Meet Meredith: The Therapist with a Passport, a Plan, and a Pit Bull
I’m Meredith Hrebenak, LPC — a licensed therapist, passionate advocate, and firm believer that healing is possible with the right mix of insight, humor, and practical tools.

I specialize in helping adults untangle anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and big life transitions (including the ones that come with identity, existential questions, or figuring out what’s next). I work especially well with people who are thoughtful, motivated, and maybe just a little burned out from trying to hold it all together.

Whether I’m supporting members of the adoption constellation, helping clients navigate identity or life transitions, or teaching communication and boundary-setting with confidence and clarity — I bring warmth, structure, and zero judgment to the process.

My Approach to Therapy

I take an integrative, holistic approach to mental health. That means we consider the full picture—your thoughts, emotions, relationships, body, beliefs, and lived experience.

Some of the approaches I draw from include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Strengths-Based and Solution-Focused Therapy

  • Person-Centered and Existential Therapy

  • Feminist Therapy – exploring how systems, power, and culture impact your mental health

  • A touch of Positive Psychology (minus the toxic positivity)

  • And when it fits? A little pop culture insight or fictional wisdom, inspired by stories you connect with

Basically, we’ll use what works—and we’ll tailor it to you.

Clinical Background:

Before starting my private practice, I spent four years counseling survivors of domestic violence at a residential shelter and also worked in a group practice setting. I’ve supported clients navigating:

  • Relationship and self-esteem issues

  • Domestic violence and sexual trauma

  • PTSD and complex trauma

  • LGBTQIA+ identity development

  • Spiritual concerns and religious deconstruction

  • Social justice and cultural identity

  • Anxiety, depression, and stress management

  • Adoption-related concerns

A Bit More About Me

I believe therapy should feel real—not rigid. My fully remote practice reflects that belief. Whether your dog barks during session or you show up in pajamas, you’re welcome as you are.

When I’m not working, I’m probably:

  • Planning my next national park adventure

  • Writing about how mental health intersects with my other interests, like fandom, travel, and identity

  • Hanging out with my pit bull

✨ Fun fact: My last name is pronounced Her-ben-ack. You don’t have to get it right on the first try—I’ll remind you if needed!
